Mathisen A/S
Harald Mathisen founded Harald Mathisen
A/S in November 1956. His vision and objective
was to create a reliable supply source for
the raw material requirements of Norwegian
paint producers. He started by travelling
extensively in Norway to visit paint producers
and define their raw material requirements
and then travelled throughout Europe in
order to identify the most appropriate sources.
This stategy was very successful and
a number of Agency agreements were signed
many of which are still in operation today.
The paint industry has always been our
core segment of activity but we have also
diversified our operations by taking on
agency agreements for raw materials used
in the building, paper, plastics and animal
feed industries.
Many changes have more recently taken
place in these industries, notably the
closure of many of these industrial activities
in Norway for economic and other reasons.
In order to respond to this industrial
decline in Norway we have now expanded
our activities to cover the whole of Nordic
countries.
